It is impossible for the average, spoiled American (like me) to understand the cost paid by men and women of our armed forces for freedom. We can never truly know, no matter how much we try, what it’s like.
That’s their gift to us. The not knowing.
So today, as I begin living my very free day, I humbly offer my thanks. It is offered along with the sentiment that I don’t know what I’m thanking you for. I don’t know what you had to give. I don’t know your sacrifices. But I do know that freedom isn’t free. It was bought by you. And it continues to be purchased every day of every year by you.
Freedom is a gift. And I thank you.

My name is Ginia Oehlschlager and I'm a small-town gal from Missouri. Join me as I document my crazy life on the farm with my husband and four kids. I'm always looking for frugal, simple ways to live the life God set before me. Where faith, family and fun come together on the farm.
