7 days until Christmas!!!

All of the recent snow days have thrown me for a loop and our schedule (or lack thereof) has been crazy! Despite the fact we were home so many days, we didn’t accomplish even one single Christmas activity!

Bad mom alert!

So, now that it’s Dec. 18 and there’s only one week until the BIG day, I’m going to get intentional. Finally. Before it’s too late.

On Monday we created our usual Christmas countdown chain, but this time we added a little Pinterest-inspired twist. Bible verses!

The kids decorated the front of each chain link and then on the back I wrote a relevant verse. Each night, the child who decorated that day’s link gets to tear it off and look up the verse and then read it aloud! (Three cheers for Pinterest!)

My goal is to document some of the other projects I’m sure (ahem) we are going to complete! Some of the items on my list include: read lots of Christmas books, read from the Advent calendar each day, Grinch cookies, homemade hand scrub (for gift), paper plate Christmas crafts, Christmas tree cinnamon rolls and pretzels with Hershey’s Kisses and M&Ms.

What are some of the things you do to celebrate the coming of Christmas?

My name is Ginia Oehlschlager and I'm a small-town gal from Missouri. Join me as I document my crazy life on the farm with my husband and four kids. I'm always looking for frugal, simple ways to live the life God set before me. Where faith, family and fun come together on the farm.

  1. That Christmas chain with bible verses is brilliant. I love Pinterest too! 🙂 Your tree looks lovely, Ginia! And the 4 elves in front are super duper too! 🙂
